City Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Precedent-Setting Lead Law

0914162cb249Rochester celebrated the 10th anniversary of its precedent-setting lead law Sept. 19, with officials from the Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning, the city of Rochester, the Monroe County Department of Public Health, staff members from the Environmental Protection Agency, and other community groups.

Rochester City Council passed the lead-based paint poisoning prevention ordinance in 2005, in an effort to target rental housing in high-risk neighborhoods, where 90 percent of lead-poisoned children lived.
