RCSD Superintendent Bolgen Vargas had attempted to oust Ramirez from Monroe last week due to flat graduation rates for Hispanic students at the school, which sparked criticism from Ramirez’ supporters.
As a result, the school board decided to vote against Vargas’ plan to hire former Avon High School principal Barbara Zelazny as Ramirez’ replacement.
Instead, former Monroe principal Vicky Ramos has been assigned to replace Ramirez at the school. In addition, Zelazny has now been hired at Northwest College High School.
Ramirez had previously been principal at Marshall until 2012.Armando Ramirez, former principal at Monroe High School, has recently been hired as principal of All City High on the Marshall campus, according to officials from the Rochester City School District.
