National Hispanic Heritage Month 2023 takes place from Sep. 15, 2023 through Oct. 15, 2023. However, the festivities kick off early in downtown Rochester this weekend.
The city’s Hispanic Heritage Committee is hosting “Roc ‘n Ritmo,” a latin music concert on Sat., Sep. 9, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Park, 353 Court Street.

The city says Roc ‘n Ritmo will be “a dynamic musical lineup” featuring emcee Franco “El Matatan.”
Puerto Rican musicians Carlos Garcia and Divino are among the Latino talents scheduled to perform.
According to his official website, Carlos García is a Puerto Rican singer, pianist, and arranger. His passion for music arose when he was a nine-years-old pianist. After years of experience García became driven to move from chorist to soloist, thus marking the beginning of a new stage in his singing career.
“Lifelong exposure to music has led Garcia to work with Victor Manuelle, Charlie Aponte, and many others,” city officials say. Since 2020, Carlos has released several salsa tunes, including Te Pasa Algo, Yo La Queria Para Mi, and No Me Culpes.
Divino’s biography says he began his musical career at fifteen, when his family moved from The Bronx, New York, to Ponce, Puerto Rico As a prolific songwriter, Divino eventually immersed himself in the Caribbean islands’ booming Spanish-language rap scene.
Event organizers say Divino is well-known across the reggaeton genre with a 20-year career that features hit collaborations with Esta Noche De Travesura and Mac (with Malito Malozo and Bayriton).
