Senator Brouk Honors Ibero President with Woman of Distinction Award

Senator Samra Brouk and Angelica Perez-Delgado

Senator Samra Brouk recognized Angelica Perez-Delgado, president and CEO of the Ibero-American Action League, as the 2024 Woman of Distinction on Wednesday.

The New York State Women of Distinction program, run by the state Senate, gives each of the 63 senators the opportunity to honor one woman from their district annually. The award highlights individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities through a commitment to excellence.

Perez-Delgado, who has held her leadership position at the Ibero-American Action League since 2018, brings over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Raised in Rochester’s North Clinton neighborhood, she began her career as a substance abuse therapist before transitioning into administrative roles more than a decade ago. Despite challenges like poverty, trauma, and dropping out of high school, she turned her life around with the help of services she now oversees.

“In 2024, I am proud to present Angelica ‘Angie’ Perez-Delgado with the Woman of Distinction award in recognition of her extraordinary dedication, leadership, and drive,” said Brouk. “Angie’s journey is a powerful example of overcoming obstacles to achieve greatness and give back to the community. Her commitment to empowering others and fostering positive, lasting change has left an indelible mark on our region.”

Perez-Delgado expressed her gratitude for the honor, stating, “I am deeply blessed and honored to receive the NYS Women of Distinction award from Senator Brouk. Serving my community is a privilege that I hold dear, and I am thankful for the chance to give back to the neighborhood and community that helped shape me into the woman I am today.”

Senator Samra Brouk represents New York's 55th Senate District, which includes parts of Monroe County such as East and West Irondequoit, Webster, Penfield, Perinton, Fairport, Pittsford, East Rochester, and the eastern portion of Rochester. Brouk serves as chair of the Mental Health Committee and is a member of several other committees, including Children and Families, Consumer Protection, Health, and Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs.
